domestic round-up

I’ve been fiddling with some site redesign ideas. Since wordpress uses PHP, and I know squat about it, I’m going to have to fake it, i.e. see how everyone else is doing it. In the meantime, I’ve got some code down for the main index, header, footer and extra panels but on a single page. I’ll have to cut it up into the several *.php “files” or modules I’ll need for wordpress.

I’m having a blast with dreamweaver and moofx! And since I know squat about java, I’m also learning by doing - some pretty nifty effects built in. An example of really well-done demo page is over here.

Bloody fantastic, actually. But I’m trying to figure out how to get away from using moofx’s fx.Accordion function and sticking to plain ‘ol stand-alone sliding panels - the Accordian effect requires you to click on another slidable link to collapse the old one (not good!). So the experimenting continues.

I’ll eventually want to try and implement stuff like rolling archives - what’s on the right of this screen, and I’m thinking of options to try and keep everything within two pages at the most: the main index, and single pages. That would keep unnecessary navigation to a minimum, which is the way I like it: everything should be available in the first page, but tastefully done so it doesn’t look too cluttered.

I like this current theme, but it feels too much like a clash of colours, though I shouldn’t complain since it just requires a bit of editing to get the colours I want.

I hope I’ve weaned off my addiction to Fable. It’s one of the first few RPGs I’ve played on the XBox, along with Knights of the Old Republic II. While I managed to finish the latter, I never really got down to completing the former. Until I upgraded my rig, that is. So Fable: The Lost Chapters sits pretty in my hard disk, now. I’ve done up the main storyline but not finished the rest of the extra areas in the game.

Which will be done maybe next week. Ha! Too many things to do, can’t be helped. In any case, Fable was a blast. Besides the wry humour, it’s the main story itself is engaging. While others have called it an ‘RPG-lite’, it doesn’t lose any of its entertainment value. True, there aren’t many complex choices in the game - whether moral or with respect to methods to complete a quest.

In any case, it’s been pretty refreshing staying away from the current uproar surrounding the fuel price increases. In fact, it’s been fantastic staying away from the internet!

yah :p it was fun but kinda like a guilty pleasure. for punishment, i had to drive up to kota tinggi, meet a client who could barely speak engrish (his “engrish” sounded more like “ogrish” as in “ogre”) and then rush down to pasir gudang to attend to another crap thing.
