Update: A full report of events here.
And what a day it has been. No, there were no riots, no bruises, no kicks, no scuffles, no fights, only men with skullcaps demanding, in loud voices, that the forum be stopped.
But it was a good forum, and a good turn-out, about 300 or so people registered, and it looked as if about that many turned up, although some were slightly late. There were negotiations on how much time we could have; the forum was supposed to last from 9.00am to 1.00pm, but was unfortunately cut short at 11.00am or so.
The great thing was, all the speakers got their turn, and while they were rushed, the ensuing brevity made the messages come across all the more clearly, and all the more concisely.
A few photos first, please forgive the grainy quality of the pictures; I was literally walking around with my handphone camera at the ready.
The view from the multi-storey carpark. It’s a beautiful morning.
Some tourists making their way elsewhere. It’s a quiet morning, calm. Almost peaceful.
It is only after the whole session that the participants of the forum become aware of the scene down below…
It is only as we are leaving that things take a definite form and substance.
My loot, which I will now have to sort out.
I managed to capture some videos as well, and have to convert them for upload, and some other photos to sort out. I’ll see what I can post by tonight. Till later.
And yes, it was a very, very good forum.

anyway, i’m very glad to note that the forum turned out well with all speakers having their turns… but again why ah it had to be cut short.
now i envy you for having been through the forum. i am still hoping and waiting for the forum to be held in penang.
hope you’ll update us again about the forum.
My friend, did you meet my another friend who was there? ;)
I think I might have… heh heh heh… but we didn’t say anything to each other.
Correction - I wasn’t there. Would have love to have been, but couldn’t make it. In KL, unfortunately ;-)
Nice report, by the way, xpyre…
Ahh..! It must’ve been someone else. I was (almost) the youngest participant there, I think LOL. I’m preparing a more in-depth report at the moment.

Update (Jul 22 2244hrs): The reduced and recycled blog has a first-hand report of the forum in JB. [IMG Image hosting by Photobucket]Today was to be an important day for many. Saturday, July 22, 2006. Fortunately, as of 4pm today, it’s just another Saturday (a nice day, earlier, allowing Walski to do some gardening, before it rained).
I doubt you’ll see this in the mainstream media, but who knows? Anyway there will be more to report on this soon, insha’Allah [IMG (SWT)]. I really wish that I had attended so that I could do some citizen journalism like that other person, but what the heck…I’ll just have to rely on secondary sources. I understand that a Resolution was passed at the forum, I’ll get that translated into English soon. And to those bloggers who openly or implicitly support Article 11 or
