I’ve got a bad memory. So I list here some things I’ve learned over the past year:
- BN really is UMNO. The two are interchangeable. MCA, MIC and Gerakan? Hey, who the fuck cares?
- UMNO isn’t interested in Malaysia. Its members are interested in themselves. This is the short version. The long version? They champion Malays; UMNO Malays, that is.
- “A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.” - George Bernard Shaw.
- At least one UMNO member sounds like a xenophobe. His name is Abdul Ghani Othman.
- Urbanization, such as it is, will be the death of UMNO, relying as it does on rural, kampungs for support. Short question: how many UMNO fellas think the internet is a series of tubes?
- The Opposition are terminally fucked. I say this with all the gravity of a grave-robber in an empty cemetery. What’s the point of an empty cemetery? What’s the point of an empty classroom? What’s the point of talking when most of your fellow UMNO MPs can’t give a damn what you say?
- BN loves telling people how open we are about interfaith dialogue. That is, BN loves telling people in OTHER countries how open we are about interfaith dialogue. To paraphrase Stephen Colbert: UMNO’s very accepting of the validity of other religions; yes, there are infinite paths to accepting Islam as the one and true religion.
- If someone’s about to uncover a major political scandal, blame a chinaman. Doesn’t matter which, really.
- Feel guilty about stealing so much of the country’s wealth? Shed crocodile tears for the plight of the keling.
- Still feel you’ve not got enough money? Take the BN route: rubbish the report of internationally-reknown academics, then say it’s a chinaman agenda. Still not successful? Tell everyone to shaddup. Or else.
- “You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.” - Ray Bradbury.
I’ll think of more, later.

This is the bees knees!
Dude, I was at a ‘Deeparaya’ event co-hosted by the Malaysian Club in JKT. Was seated at a table with Malaysian Indians. I have to say, they are a riot. Nobody can argue they aren’t passionate about what’s going on :)
Nice compilation. Simple words can put these leaders in shame.

I have just read Syed Akbar Ali’s great book “Malaysia And The Club of… DOOM” which amongst other issues outlines the potential problem of an emerging Islamist movement in Malaysia, and/or (probably more correctly), the troubling trend of the Arabization of the Malay population.
What an interesting read it is, I hope they don’t burn this one!

I did a review of his earlier book, ‘To Digress a Little‘, and I owe him a reply email also; he’s asked me to take a look at the book, and I am ashamed for not having replied him after so long. Argh. If his earlier book is anything to go by, I’ll expect a firebrand of a read!
I must get the book this weekend!!
