Been away for almost a week or so, what with the year-end crunch time. So it’s truly good news to hear that Alan Johnston’s been freed. Hamas has, definitely, proved itself capable of delivering on its promises - which is the whole point of the efforts to free Alan Johnston.
Of course the effort was driven by politics, but the end result is the same: he’s free and that’s what matters. I don’t know if you can tune in to the BBC World Service in Malaysia - I suspect you can’t? For those who have and can (via broadcast from Singapore @ 88.9FM), I’m sure you’ve heard short messages from Mr Johnston’s colleagues wishing him well, and hoping he’d make it back in one piece.

One significant quote caught my eye:
“I literally dreamt many times of being free and always woke up back in that room.”
A happy ending :)
