Liberation.
I was about to use the word “fallen”, but that seems so inappropriate. No, liberation is a better term. Already, the IGP’s issuing warnings about SMS’s and rumours and such. A friend of mine on the ground at one of the polling centres here in Johor Bahru informed me about the sombre mood in the UMNO/Barisan Nasional camp.
Over dinner just now, I watched ASTRO’s AWANI channel and listened to those talking heads talk about losses sustained - strangely enough, NO NEWS ABOUT PENANG OR KELANTAN was reported. NONE whatsoever. I felt insulted. They even called the EC idiot on the phone and he refused to be baited into giving away results. To me, it was a shocker - why not say something, especially now that DAP’s holding their press conference on the formation of the Penang state government?
Are they going to steal this elections with postal voters and phantom votes? I don’t know - the elation I felt upon hearing the results has turned to dread and now to calm. I guess I’m waiting - it feels like the calm before the storm. I know that if there is any retaliation for the losses that BN have faced thus far, it will come from BN themselves.
The people have spoken - and the votes are still being counted. I watched that travesty of a 2008 elections coverage on TV and grit my teeth, hoping that these idiots will be forced to swallow their tongues when the time comes. This cuckold press and media will face a reckoning!
Too much to say, and I’m anxiously standing by for more news. Head over to Malaysiakini for all the updates!
